The process of astral projection is a natural ability with which everyone is born. In fact, many people actually do it without even being aware of it. Our aim however should be to astral project while we�re physically conscious, thus allowing ourselves to control what your astral body is doing.

The first technique in learning how to astral project, is one that you can do when you’ve gone to bed for the night. Let’s break it down into five steps.

*First – Relax your entire body completely. The best way to do this is to start with your toes and work your way upwards, tensing and then relaxing each part of your body. You’ll become deeply relaxed as you do this and your body may feel extremely heavy � this is perfectly normal.

*Now you will slow down and deepen your breathing as they do in meditation practices. Consciously breathe in deeply and slowly and focus your attention upon the way the air feels as it comes into your lungs and descends into your diaphragm. Now exhale slowly and deeply, focusing your complete attention upon the air leaving your lungs, your nostrils, your mouth. But if you feel yourself drifting off to sleep, focus your attention on the middle of your forehead instead as you breathe.

*This is the stage where you�ll need to be aware of two things in particular, the first being the way your physical body feels and the second being your astral body. Your physical body should feel heavy and difficult to move, almost as one would imagine a large boulder to be. As one pays attention their astral body, try focusing on how you would imagine the weightlessness of bubbles to be, gently drifting on the air currents. Focus on the absolute weightlessness of your astral body, feeling it starting to float away. Keep reminding yourself that your physical body is heavy, while your astral body is completely weightless.

*Fourth � Now you may have the experience of being able to see perfectly well in your darkened room which should now be illuminated by a purple light � even though your eyes are closed! Turn your attention to the light which is coming from your ceiling.

*Continue concentrating on the light fitting and then mentally, slowly start to pull it towards yourself on the bed. At this point you should start feeling as if you�re starting to float. At this point it�s tantamount that you do not allow yourself to fall asleep because by now you should be absolutely aware that you�re floating and in all likelihood, it may well be possible to turn around and see your physical body still lying on the bed.

If you�ve experienced this unique phenomenon, well done. You�ve successfully managed to astral project and are now in a position to start exploring with your astral travels. As I�ve mentioned before, different techniques work for different people so if this technique hasn�t worked for you, go ahead and attempt using this next technique.

You can do this one, known as the Gazing Method, when you’re hitting the hay for night as well. You’ll need an object to focus on: the moon through your window or skylight, a lava lamp, even just a nightlight; whatever can hold your attention.

Of course, you must make sure you can gaze at the object as you lie in bed. Now, essentially you’re going to stare at this object. If you feel your attention wandering, bring it back to the object. You should soon begin to feel your eyelids getting heavy. Just keep staring; eventually your eyes will close but you should still be able to see the object as if your eyes are still open. Don’t turn your head; keep “staring”. You’ll come to a point where you want to sit up or stand up, and if you feel yourself do this don’t be alarmed if you can see your own physical body lying asleep on the bed.

If you�re really serious about learning to astral project, you need to understand that these methods aren�t always successful on your first attempt. In all likelihood you may not even be successful with your second or third attempt either but if after that they still don�t work, don�t give up because there are still other techniques so simply try again using a new method.

It should also be said now that one�s subconscious mind is perhaps the single biggest hurdle in your road to successful astral projection, irrespective what techniques or tools you decide to employ. In order for you to be able to successfully astral project, your subconscious mind has to be convinced that it�s perfectly acceptable and natural for your astral body to leave your physical body. Clairvoyance is a French word meaning ‘clear vision’ (clair means clear and voyance means vision). Voyant is the adjectival present participle of voyance, so a clairvoyant is someone who ’sees clearly’. This is a literal translation; when the word is used in French it merely means someone with excellent vision. Of course, that�s not what we mean when using the word in English.

Clairvoyant has been used to describe people in terms of different phenomena over the years. It has now come to be used as a generally term describing anyone who exhibits psychic abilities. This is an overly broad definition, but generally speaking when this word is used it refers to someone who is able to sense and know things without perceiving them with the five senses of the physical body. You could refer to clairvoyance as ESP.

Usually clairvoyance involves an individual who has the knowledge of a situation that happens at the moment, but at a distance, out of the range of that individuals physical senses. The next and fifth type of clairvoyance is known as clairgustance. In clairgustance a clairvoyant with an empty mouth is able to taste different flavors even though there is no obvious source. These clairvoyants are able to precisely describe the different taste of things from a distance.

The sixth and final form of clairvoyance is claircognizance. This is perhaps the most hard to define or explain. In claircognizance, a person knows something about a remote person, object, location, or event, but can’t explain how they gained that knowledge; they just know it. To some extent, claircognizance is a catch-all category of clairvoyance.

Many documentations of occurrences of people considered clairvoyants exist throughout history. From different cultures worldwide and has been incorporated into some religions of the world.

Buddhists believe clairvoyance to be one of six forms of extrasensory perception which become available to people with advanced meditation training. In Buddhism, this clairvoyance is thought to be in the form of clairsentience, with practitioners able to feel the vibrations emitted by others.

Clairvoyance also makes appearances in Christian and Islamic literature, with the visions being considered to be divinely inspired miracles. St. Clare described a vision of St. Francis� death, though she was many miles distant. The Catholic Church later named St. Clare as the patron saint of TV (which happens to literally mean ’seeing at a distance’). As with other psychic phenomena, there are many skeptics about clairvoyance. Skepticism is natural; it�s hard to believe in something without seeing it in action. After all, even magnetism was once thought to be non-existent.

There are skeptics of clairvoyance. It is a part of human nature to doubt and deny the existence of something that they do not understand. The existence of electricity and magnetism had been denied by scientist not so long ago in our history.

No matter what the skeptics are saying, nobody has ever been able to completely disprove that clairvoyance is possible.
