Although fighting in war is not something that is that great of a thing and people would prefer that they just didn’t happen there are times where they are impossible to avoid. Without measurement would it have been possible for us and many other people to have come out of a battle winning?

Tactics/ Planning

Well the first thing we need measurement for are of course the tactics of battle. How many people are on the opposing sides force, do we have the firepower to defeat them and have they good any weaknesses? All of these things need to be though of before the battle even starts as without measurements it would be almost like walking into a lost fight before it has started. Although I do not agree with any of his methods Adolf Hitlers Blitzkrieg was one of the best strategies ever thought of. Hitler was a very clever guy there is no doubt about that, Blitzkrieg was and still is one of the cleverest tactics ever created and meant the Nazi forces never had to worry about being flanked.

Weapons

Measurement is actually very important when it comes to weapon creation too and the most famous example really has to be the atomic bomb. All kinds of measurements were used and are still used today such as pressure measurement and level transmitters. On top of this many weapons since the cannon would not have been able to have been fired if it wasn’t for careful calculations and measurements.

The big problem comes because measurements are getting easier to predict which is simply because of the computers we have. On the plus side this means a bomb detonated by an ally will hit the target with no civilian casualties but from a terrorist there could be some real public losses.

So is it a good thing or a bad thing, you decide.

Over the past couple of decades, society has begun to think about death differently, and the role of the funeral director has adapted to meet these new needs. These days, funeral homes are more of a ‘one stop shop’, offering services that range from lasting keepsakes to floral tributes.

For a growing number of people, whilst grief is obviously still at its core, the funeral of a loved one is an opportunity to celebrate their life, rather than mourn the loss of it. Strictly black attire and solemn hymns have slowly been giving way to the occasional introduction of subtle color and even favorite pop songs. Funeral directors have needed to adapt to this cultural drift and offer a broader range of services.

Since the idea of pre-payment was introduced twenty or thirty years ago, pre-paid funeral plans have steadily been on the increase. A growing number of people also go beyond this, not only paying for their own funeral in advance, but also planning the actual ceremony, so the family approaches the funeral director knowing the full wishes of their loved one.

To deal as efficiently as they can with a death, funeral directors also need to be aware of the shifting business of life. As well as dealing first-hand with grief and loss, they can offer counseling, legal assistance and financial guidance, and signpost families to support groups and aftercare services. Rather than the ‘body-centered’ service of the past, these days the profession is significantly more knowledge-based.

From a financial point of view, funeral directors have seen profit margins reduce quite significantly. This has led to many expanding their range of services and products, including online obituaries and creative keepsakes such as necklaces made from the cremated remains.

Funeral directors will need to persist with adapting their services for many years to come. However, whatever changes the future may bring, their role will remain sensitive, practical and comforting.

With origins dating back to 1853, E.F. Box are one of the oldest funeral directors within the UK. They offer a range of funeral services across a variety of faiths, beliefs and ways of celebrating life.

It is very difficult to deal with the death of a loved one under the best of circumstances. Unfortunately, the death of a loved one during the holidays can cause compounded grief, as every celebration and family gathering is just a little more aggressive when it comes to highlighting the loss. Every belief system can be challenged when it comes to this issue and it’s one that gets more complex with varying situations.

The picture is easy to paint but hard to bear. You sit down next to the foam dog bed and look to the most innocent to bring joy to the holidays, shuffle through these feelings. When that doesn’t work you’re not sure whether you’re supposed to carry on or cancel the entire holiday. Often the answer lies not in man’s best friend’s silent answer, but in the rest of the family gathered around.

At no time do you have to pressure yourself into making the right decision. There isn’t one. Stocking stuffers like new baby bath toys and those neat little race cars can be hard reminders or a source of joy. The path is not one that comes with a good map.

Some people indicate that the decision can be made based on who it was that passed away. Not every family agrees with this and there can often be great arguments that crop up. The entire family needs to be able to come together and discuss the possible solutions and try to agree on the next right step in the process. There are often young children to think of, and young children do not always equate death with sadness because they do not completely understand.

You may run into resistance if you have older children at home. Many times kids who are finding their voice of right and wrong stand on principles that are extreme. It’s their voice because they have just found it, and they may become ultra insistent that everyone do the right thing.

Families that do not have children to consider still have each other to consider. Often there is just no way to ensure that everyone will get on the same page and offer the same feelings. Instead, many of the family dynamics will lead to bantering and bickering. This can often just lead to more confusion.

While most people dance around it, there is also the question of the gifts. There are presents that the deceased may have purchased and wrapped. There are also the gifts that you have purchased. Do you hold onto the sweater, the latest kindle, or the newest laptop or do you try to return it? Do you give it to someone else? There is no right answer to these difficult questions. Only your heart, your family, and your gut can really guide you along the way.

Car Distractions?

March 12, 2010

There are many things a driving instructor will tell a person to do when they are taking the test but then again there do seem to be many things out there that are not taught to students. Of course it isn’t only the younger generations that do these things; many people are not driving how they are supposed to be every day.

One Handed Driving

Men actually do this a lot more than women do because they feel their cars are a part of them, I am not sure I have ever felt like that but there you go. (BMW research apparently) The reason that this is so dangerous is because the other hand is most likely going to be used for picking up a drink, getting a bite to eat or even using services such as Facebook and Twitter! The last two on this small list are of course illegal here in the UK for the very simple reason that it could put someone in danger.

Make up is the big cause of omens distractions, in fact it makes up for a quarter of them which is shocking really! This really needs to be done when you are pulled over at the very least.

A shocking figure for the men here, 10% of them are distracted by other drivers. This is because they are looking around for attractive women. Disgraceful!

Both genders were in agreement over one thing and that was that the kids are a major distraction and on both genders they scored highest. One of the best things to do is simply pull over and give them that telling off, then you are not at risk. Never turn around to shout or talk if they are messing around as this means your eyes are off the road.

You do not want to crash or you will have to look for bad credit car leasing and this is not something you want to be doing, what you want is normal old cheap car leasing or simple cheap van leasing.

Cremation Or Burial? .

March 9, 2010

The death of somebody close to you is a sad, and emotional time for everyone involved. Both close friends and family will be devastated by the news, of the loss of a loved one and some, generally closer family members, may find it hard to deal with the grief.

Pre-planning your burial or cremation will relieve close family, of any burden of doing so, on your behalf. There is a lot to arrange and pre-planning, with the help of your local funeral home, will enable your family to mourn you together without any worry.

Whether you have chosen a traditional burial or a more cost effective cremation, your local funeral home will be able to advise you on all matters including memorial service, burial plot, urns, transportation, printing and flowers.

The cost of a traditional burial has increased quite significantly over recent years and as we all feel the pinch from the global recession, many more of us are opting for cremation. With prices as low as $600 for a direct cremation (without a service) you can see why. Traditional burials are now said to have reached $2500 for a basic burial and can easily top $12.500 if you want all the trimmings.

Contrary to popular belief, a memorial service, much the same as when you are buried, can still be held when you are cremated and close family and friends are able to read antidotes, sing hymns and pay their last respects.

Another misconception, regarding cremation is where the ashes can be kept. The majority of people will buy an urn and the ashes will be kept in this, in the family home for generations to come. Others prefer their ashes to be scattered in a favourite place of theirs, even in the back garden! Alternatively a plot can be bought, complete with a headstone, and the ashes buried here much like a traditional burial. People can then still visit the ‘grave’ and place flowers etc to pay their respects.

Pre-planning your own funeral, whether it is a burial or cremation, is a must. Take the burden off your family, both emotionally and financially, after you die and contact your local funeral home director for more information.

In the last ten years or so, there has been a substantial rise in the cost of caskets, coffins, burial plots and memorial services leading to an increase in the cremation rate. Cremation can not only save you a substantial amount of money, but also families feel closer to their loved ones as the ashes can be kept in the family home for generations to come.

A memorial service can still be held when you are cremated, similar to a traditional burial service where, close family and friends, can pay their last respects and say their goodbyes. If you are organising the service then try and include as many family members as you can and ask certain members to read out speeches or suggest hymns or songs to be sung.

One of the most important decisions to make is the purchase of an urn. This urn will be kept within the family for generations so you need to get it right the first time. Every urn comes in different sizes and many different materials are used including brass, marble, copper and hardwood. Shop around as a huge saving can be made. Remember to choose the urn carefully as an urn reflects the personality of the departed and will be on show for many years to come.

You will also need to organise transportation, printing, flowers and possibly a get together after the service has ended, either at the family home or funeral home. A direct cremation, with no service can cost as little as $600 compared to a basic burial where prices start at almost $2500.

With the global recession affecting nearly all of us, cremation is a much more cost effective way of giving a loved one the send off that they deserve.

Talk to your local funeral home, who will be able to advise you on the process of cremation. You have the option of organising the cremation yourself or allowing the funeral home to take over and make all the arrangements on your behalf.

The Cremation Process

March 8, 2010

Although still not accepted in some cultures, cremation is a closing phase of letting go of a dead body and has been carried out for centuries. For those individuals who do accept the process, cremation is on the increase due to the rising costs of a traditional burial.

The process of cremation is [relatively|fairly] [simple|easy|straight forward]. To [begin|start] with the funeral director must have authorization from the deceased [close|immediate] family [allowing|giving] the funeral home to go ahead with a cremation. Once this has been received then the planning of the service can [commence|start].

The service which is held is similar to a traditional service in which hymns and songs can be played, speeches read out and friends and family can pay their respects to the departed.

At the actual time of cremation, the funeral director must ensure all jewellery and other pieces of metal such as pacemakers, metal legs and teeth are removed. This is done to avoid any technical mishaps.

Identification of the body is then carried out before the body is placed into a casket or wooden chest which will burn easily during the cremation process.

After the burning process, [thirty|30] minutes or so is taken for cooling down. Any fragments are then [laid|put] onto a table where the crematory [person|assistant] will remove any metal debris either by hand or by using a big magnet.

After this process, the bones are then [placed|put] into a processor and pulverized into powder. These ‘cremains’ are then placed in the family’s chosen urn. These urns are then kept on display [generally|normally] in the family home for [generations|years] to come.

Although the cremation process is [quick and easy|easy and quick] it is also a reasonably priced way to say a respectable goodbye to your loved one and give them the send off that they deserved.
